Description
Martyr deaths are hardly pleasant, especially that of women tend to be particularly gruesome and horrific. Take St. Lucia for example, on two account she had her eyes gouged out. One through torture, all because she wanted to distribute her dowry to a good cause, and the other one involved her gouging her own eyes out in order to avoid marriage. Eitherway, she was tortured simply because she refused to marry a man she wasn't in love with, and because she wanted to give her OWN money to the poor. Can you image women are still being treated this way?
Materials used:
Acrylics and gouache, but I believe they're essentially the same? Not too familiar with traditional materials.

I particularly appreciate a magnificent painting, such as this one, especially since it is accompanied by a very well written text and where the author shares the sufferings of the canvas.
